G16 rev limiter
Is there a rev limiter in the ignition on a 2002 yamaha g16
or will it just rev to the moon and blow/ valve float etc etc. |

Re: G16 rev limiter
Not sure about an 02, but my 99 G16 would float the valves. No rev. limiter.

Re: G16 rev limiter
Ok, I just did the bypass on my 99 G16 and it goes MUCH better now. Clocked it stock with my GPS topping out at 10.8 MPH, after the upgrade I was at 20.4 MPH. My concern of over RPM's is growing quickly. What can be done to insure I do not float the valves or compromise the integrity of the engine? Thanks!

Re: G16 rev limiter
I bypassed mine, and installed an iEquus 8080 tachometer 5" with shift light.
if i keep overreving it i will put a relay on the shift light signal to cut the ignition then i can set my rev limit just an idea for you all if the shift light is an LED you will need to amplify it with a transistor to drive the relay seems complicated but its really simple |
