Does the cart free-wheel down a long grade?

No, I mean when you point the cart downhill does it gain speed because of gravity? If the motor starts slowing the cart down on a downhill grade you have a regenerative system that cannot be bypassed without at least a controller upgrade.

1995 I think is pre regenerative .... it is a series cart. No, no silver bullet here You will have to upgrade the controller and/or motor for more speed

You might find a used one in the classifed section but usually to get a new high amp speed controller it is usually about $400. The cart pictured in my avatar is a 95 Metalist (now has a later TXT body to replaced the badly dented Metalist body). But I wanted more speed and put a 4hp GE motor (still $400) on mine (only mod) which really picked it up. Ran like this for 2.5 years. Finally the 14 year old speed controller kick the bucket. Then I added new batteries 400-500 amp Ge speed controller and 4 ga cable. As you see my cart is not lifted. My cart will do 20mph and pull race cars at the drag strip with no effort.
