Big T, Sounds like your ring is getting stuck in its groove, this has happend to me on motorcycle engines before. clean the groove good (i use carb cleaner) than tape a sheet of 400 grit sand paper to a flat surface i use i peice of glass, lay the ring flat on the sand paper and in a circular motion lightly sand both sides of the ring, put it back on the piston and squeeze the ring into the groove to make sure it does'nt stick.
