Default Replace Drive Clutch Spring Without Removing Clutch?

I have a 1998 EZGO Workhorse 1200 that I am preparing for use in the woods. I have on order the BU "clutch tuning kit" with a heavier drive clutch spring.

I looked at the BU instructions online and it specified removing the clutch, then the clutch coverplate, dust cover, and old spring. It would appear that it would be easier to just leave the clutch on the engine and remove the clutch coverplate, dust cover, and old spring?

Online I could not find any diagrams for the internal parts of the drive and driven clutches. The online tech manual for the TXT; only includes clutch removal and installation.

Leave the clutch on, just remove the cover. It's a good idea to mark the cover so it go's back in the same place.

Thanks.

It seemed logical; but I wanted to check.

I've done it that way, yes mark the cover to the body.

I have a 2010 EZGO RXV and needing to replace the drive clutch spring. Can I leave the drive clutch on and just remove clutch cover on the RXV model? Thank you.
