Wont run after five minutes
My 85 244cc EZGO will not take throttle after 5 mins of running .I have completely gone through the electrical system and repaired or replaced all connections except for the stator .The fuel system has also been gone through and checks out fine .I replaced the coil but to no avail .It will run at an idle but not accelerate after five minutes .Muffler clogging, stator heating up ???? Help.

Re: Wont run after five minutes
You said the fuel system is fine, but have you checked to see if it is pumping the same volume when it is hot as it is when it is cold?

Re: Wont run after five minutes
No, will do that tomorrow . I am running a regulated electric fuel pump .Drove cart all winter in sub zero conditions,no problems till it became warmer outside .

Re: Wont run after five minutes
Heat can sometimes cause additional resistance - that could be a problem with the electrical connections to the fuel pump.

Re: Wont run after five minutes
Try loosening the gas cap next time that happens. If you are drawing a vacume after a bit of fuel draw it will drop off running. May need new cap.

Re: Wont run after five minutes
If you're 100% confident there is no issue with any of the wires running to the pump, and none of them got kinked, nicked, or is located near the muffler, my next thought is.....
Carb? Could you have a loose bolt on the butterfly valve attached to the throttle plate? Could you have a sticking float? Maybe the fuel pressure has jammed it? Or could fuel pressure have bent the tab that controls the main jet into the bowl? The after 5 minutes thing though is what gets me - just sounds like a heat issue affecting the pump. |

Re: Wont run after five minutes
I would loosen the joint between the exhaust pipe and the muffler and see what happens. If it runs with a gap you have a muffler that is blocking up as it heats up.

Or you can do what Dave says.
He's right about 99.8% of the time. |

Re: Wont run after five minutes
Boy do I feel dumb, here it turned out to be an interment short in the Micro run/stop switch connected to the accelerator .Installed spare , Yah-Lah .Still can't figure out why it would do that in a 5 minute span .Wouldn't think heat could do it but hey,it works now .Always suspected coils with heat problems .Thanks for your input .
