18hp honda swap in Harley, How reverse works?
I have an older Harley (not sure of the year) and i want to swap the 2 stroke engine out with a 18hp Honda horizontal shaft. I am new to this and i don’t know how the reverse works(cart never ran when i got it) If i add the Honda motor do i need to find a transmission and if so what would work? i read that the original 2stroke ran backwards so i am guessing i would need some type of transmission…right? Can i also use the current differential? would gearing be an issue? Any help would be great. thanks!

If you have an old 2 stroke ... and install a 4 stroke motor you will lose reverse...... so you are going to need a 4 stroke rear end (transaxle)
