Default Club car onward running lights stay on

I just bought a 2020 club car onward club car. It’s a really nice cart, and runs like a bat out of hell. So basically for a little background when you turn the key to the on position on the cart the day-time running lights turn on. Yes they are LED. However, when you turn off the key they are supposed to turn completely off, but the daytime running lights in the front stay dimly lit. Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?

Ok, so update with the DRL’s. They were holding a little power in them since it was cold outside. I parked the cart in my garage and turned the heat on in there over night and I turned the running lights on for a few mins and then when I turned them off, they turned completely off. Then I pulled it out in the cold, drive it around for a few hours and turned them off, and they only dimmed, so if anyone is having this problem, it is because of the cold environment.

This is fairly typical with low current LEDs that don't use a dedicated driver to supply power to the LED bank. There is almost always stray current in a DC circuit even when it's "off" and with certain LEDs that stray current is enough to keep the light from going totally off again after it has been switched on. Just part of the way LEDs work.

The fix is usually to wire in a 1k ohm 1/2watt resistor in parallel with the LED. This allows an alternate path for stray current to by-pass the LED and will make it stop glowing when it's "off".

Thanks for the feedback! The dealership is going to pick it up, and they are going to fix that!

The cold has nothing to do with that.

Do not wire any resistors in parallel, there should be 0 current when the switch is OFF.

You have a wiring issue that needs to be fixed.

Yah had a feeling, regardless of what it is the dealership is going to fix it for free. I just found it strange that when it was in a warmer climate the lights turned all the way off, but when it was in a colder environment they only dimmed

Put the parking brake ON and see if the LEDs glow dim.

If the cart does not have a voltage reducer (bad idea) You must use the first two batteries starting with pack negative, no other two batteries can be used to provide 16v.

Missed we are in the gas forum, still off is off and no residual current should be running through the circuit with the key switch off.

Typically that indicates something else connected to the same terminal is "sourcing" current when the system is OFF, that is usually resolved by placing a diode on the problem wire with the "stripe" end facing away from the key switch.

I traced the power wires from the ignition switch to the running lights, and when the switch is off there is literally no power going through the wires, so I am think they are holding power
