91 ds trans problems,need help

hello all,i just got a good deal on a gas ds cart and my question is my tranny works fine in forward but when I shift into reverse it locks up,i mean I cant even push it back and forth,i took off the cable and shifted it by hand and I can feel it shift but it locks up.if I shift it back to forward it moves just fine.are these trannys prone to fail,are they easy to work on?thanks in advance jay........oh yea its a 91 cc ds

A buddy of mine just had the same problem with a cart he just bought. He opened the transmission case and one of the synchros was stuck, just took some minor twisting and it broke loose. That being said, I'll bet the same thing could be achieved done using the "Thanks" link that Rib posted above.

it worked like a charm,a couple of forward, reverses and it popped right in,thanks all,i love this place.....
