EZGO Goes Forward in both shift positions
This is my neighbors cart. It is a TXT PDS and it goes forward no matter where the shifter is. What would cause this? I haven't done much work on EZGOs before, but I'm thinking it could be a micro switch.

Re: EZGO Goes Forward in both shift positions
PDS has F&R "rocker switch" next to key switch. It could be a problem with that switch or its wires, or it could be a sign of controller failure.

Re: EZGO Goes Forward in both shift positions
Yup often a sign of controller failure in sepex carts.

Re: EZGO Goes Forward in both shift positions
Sorry guys I screwed up. It's actually a DCS cart...

Re: EZGO Goes Forward in both shift positions
Still a Separately Excited (Sepex) motor and more than ever subject to the 'one direction' failure. The DCS control had a fatal flaw (soon replaced with the PDS system) and all OEM controls are doomed. Use replacement pkg #505 for more torque, speed, and reliability

Re: EZGO Goes Forward in both shift positions
A DCS controller defaults to Forward and goes into Reverse when pack voltage is applied to Pin-4 (Orange wire).
Check pack voltage at Pin-4 when direction selector is in R. If you have it, the controller is belly-up If the controller is bad, do not replace it with another DCS controller, they have reliability issues. Replace it with an Alltrax DCX400 or similar. They are Plug-n-Play. |

Re: EZGO Goes Forward in both shift positions
Ok guys, so I checked the orange wire with the shifter in R and got no voltage. Turns out, the reverse microswitch had popped out of its holder on the frame! Popped it back in, reverse and the buzzer work fine... Amazing how a fix can be so simple. I attached a pic of the MS that had come loose. I also added a zip tie to each one (forward and reverse) to prevent this from happening again.
