1. No, the cart's existing charge receptacle will be fine.

2. Yes, the Alltrax controller will work at 36V, 42V and 48V.

3. Go with the Super-Duty solenoid. It also works at 36V, 42V and 48V, while the 200A solenoid is voltage specific.

I rarely disagree or contradict opinions on this board ,
ESPECIALLY when the comments come from someone like johnnieb.

I must however question the use of a INDUSTRY STANDARD 36v charge plug and receptacle for a 48v cart.

Although the charge port and receptacle will work just fine at 48v, there is a
real possibility of using the 48v charger on a 36v cart or vice versa.

The response is "this will never happen because......"
Still to quote the pirate code ---- it is "bad form"

The cost to change port and receptacle is not insignificant , but in my opinion ,
could prevent a far more expensive accident.

I have seen and repaired damage to carts and chargers due to wrong voltage batteries/chargers.

Again-- no disrespect intended.

I agree: A 48V plug/receptacle should be used.

However, if we ran a poll, I suspect we'll find that most people didn't change to a different Plug/Receptacle when they upped the pack voltage.

Have any of you ever worked on a "series" 48v par-car? These "48v crowfoot" things already exist from the factory (not the same ezgo plug referred to here, but this dilema already exists). Ezgo makes a 48v version of its "d-plug", its square instead, and expensive.

No, the only carts I've actually laid hands on is my EZGO and a neighbor's CC.

Let me clarify my position.

I subscribe to the theory that each pack voltage should have a unique Plug/Receptacle and that when the pack voltage of a cart is changed, the Plug/Receptacle should be changed to match the new voltage. I am also aware that in the real world, doing so is not always possible, or practical, so it is seldom, if ever, done.

I did not change the Receptacle on my cart when I went from 36V to 42V for a couple reasons. First, I don't think a specific receptacle for 42V exists and secondly the existing receptacle did the job.

Since we can buy any voltage chargers with any style plug installed, directly from the charger manufactures, I doubt if the dilemma created by that fact will be resolved anytime soon.

Basically, I accept the fact it is an imperfect world we live in.

Also used on some 42v Western's, adding to the confusion...... But, used on all 48v ezgo's before the new "triangle" 48v plug came out.

I am using a 36v charge receptacle on my 48v conversion for years now in a campground with 500 carts. No one has ever attempted to use my 48v charger on their 36v cart. It is a non-issue to me. However, if your cart is used and stored at the country club I could see the need for making sure you have the correct receptacle installed to prevent accidents. My .02
