Default RXV brake releases??

2008 rxv, original brake with lever. The cart stopped for no reason. I changed the solenoid, still no go.

Installed new brake, now cart will run and will stop.

HOWEVER, when the key is OFF, the brake releases???

Any ideas???

Never heard of that, the brake requires power to release. Disconnect the plug on the brake to see if its an electrical issue (cart is now locked), or a mechanical issue (cart still unlocked).

Does new brake have lever?

Did you get "repaired, or used" brake ?

The brake on motor has nothing to do with normal driving and stopping.
It is only a "parking/emergency" brake.

You may have replaced one failed "dragging/stuck on" brake with a failed always off brake

What were the results of the test to determine if its a mechanical or electrical problem?
