Default 2 Speeds on Series TXT with Alltrax

A few months back I posted about trying to figure out a way to basically make a governor for my 01 Series TXT because it goes too fast to let my daughter drive (not comfortable with her rolling around the hood at 34!). Was on the phone with one of the guys at Alltrax the other day with some questions about creating a 2nd setting on the SPM48400 that limited the speed to about 1/2 of what it would do. I basically figured I'd just create a new map and leave that map on it most of the time (in case my daughter decided to take it for a spin) and then load the normal map when I drive it. Alltrax tech told me it was a lot easier to just run a 22 gauge wire from B+ on battery pack directly to the 1/2 speed reverse spade connector on the controller. He said this would limit top speed to 1/2. All I would have to do to go back to full speed would be to pull the new connection off and put the orange wire from the wire harness back on and it would then go back to full speed. He said I could also set this up with a toggle switch that would allow me to do it on the fly.

If I get my cart running this weekend, I'm gonna try it. I'll let you know how it works.

It works good - lots of people doing it for years.

True enough.....and to do this with the toggle, all you would need is a two position switch, you would just put the switch in the middle of the two circuits. Take the switch and on one side is the extra wire from B+ to the Reverse spade, and the other to the Orange. just get a ON-OFF-ON type toggle switch.
