Default powerwise ll charger

replaced capacitor in charger but the needle still goes to 10 when i plug into both of my carts instead of 20. diodes are good from what i have checked. cant figure this out or this just the way charger is supposed to behave. any ideas?

Ammeter might be reading low.

One leg of the fuse in the window may be blown.

Is the new capacitor the right value? (PW-II used either 3µF and 4µF)

With the wires from the transformer disconnected from the diodes, measure between the wires with an AC voltmeter.
You should get about 90VAC with the capacitor connected and about 60VAC with it disconnected.

Question Re: powerwise ll charger

Are the cart batteries dead are charged. The amp needle doesn't have to go to 20 everytime. If the batteries have a good charge then the amp meter will start low.

Thumbs up Re: powerwise ll charger

That I don't know, put the charger on again and check the voltage of the pack while it's charging. If it reads the same for both chargers don't worry about it.

The specs are 55-65 without cap and 83-97 with cap, so it looks like the transformer and capacitor are good.

Andy brings up a good point, the PW-II (and some others of that type) don't climb to their max amps at the start of the cycle, if the pack is close to being fully charged.

Drive the cart around until the pack is below 90% SoC and see if the start amps are higher.

I just posted in another thread about this issue. Those meters are not always accurate. I have seen them never show anything but 5 and work flawlessly. If you aren't experiencing charging related issues then I wouldn't worry about. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
