I have my yard cart hooked up that way. THe meter goes off in neutral, comes on in forward or reverse. There is another way to do it off the key. I'm not sure which meter you have, but the stock one sucks. The little cheap $12 chinese LED meters are great, and they work with .1V 99% of the time. Take some pictures and post them up I'll point out what you can change. Or just send me a PM with them
