Default ezgo txt, accelerates wildly after getting soaked

Hello, newbie here. You guys are awesome so I'll thank you in advance. Anyway, I use my ezgo txt daily cause I'm a maintenance tech. At an apartment complex. 2 nights ago we had a bad storm and it flooded our parking lot. I had to take my cart through the deep water to block off entrances and the cart worked fine. The next morning I press on the pedal to go and the cart takes off full throttle. I press the brakes and it slows a little. Other times I push the pedal and it hesitates for a few seconds then takes off. Can someone tell me what to try first or give me an idea of what the problem could be? Thanks

Lift up the floor mat on the driver side. Right behind the go pedal there is a little black box. Open that box and it is probably got water in it, dry it all out

I'm going to try that first thing in the morning. Hopefully that's all it is cause I just had the rebuilt cart delivered 2 days before.
Thanks a lot rib33024, it's nice to know that people are still willing to share their knowledge with others. I have heard only good things about the site and you didn't disappoint. I'll post the outcome tomorrow.

Ok, I pulled up the mat and there is nothing there. I don't know where to go next.

I would look for any enclosed box and see if it can be opened and dried out. That is just my opinion..I'm not as schooled as others on the board.

Did you locate the ITS box under the mat and open it up? You have to remove 4 screws on the box cover.

underneath the mat, is a little door, normally there is a screw to hold it shut. remove the screw and the door/lid, and you will find the little box that rib was talking about. there are 4 screws that hold the lid of that little box on, inside it what were and what he was talking about drying out.

you could get under your cart and see the rod that is connected to the pedal, and the box we are referring to...but have to access it from the top.

here is a picture of where the pedal box is at.

Here's the diagram from the service manual. Hope it helps.

You need to secure cart against sudden movement while working with this problem.

Or....better yet, disconnect your positive battery cable. Then you won't have to be concerned with your cart.....say crushing thru your garage wall into your flat screen TV and into your kitchen\living room wall separation.
