Default Speeding up my 2012 PDS TXT 48V

I'm very new (1 week) to carts. Purchased one and got it last week...works great...looks pretty good...but the top speed per my GPS is 12 MPH. I'd like to get that up to the 18-19 most seem to enjoy.

Curious as to what my options are for things I can do myself on a somewhat limited budget. My understanding is that just installing the freedom chip is not an option for the 48V cart.

Here are my specs as I know them.
2012 EZ Go PDS TXT 48V
It's a four-seater with 8" tires
Pretty much just a stock cart. It's been at least partially refurbished. Most of the electrical components in the battery box look new except for the solenoid compartment and the controller box.

It has had lights, turn signals, horn added.

Where should I start? Thanks for any insights you can provide.

Those carts require a hand held programmer with a code or a dongle with a code to bump it up to freedom mode which is 19mph. I would contact the seller and see if they can bump it up.

Yep, get a dealer to unlock "freedom mode" for 19mph.

Another option is an XCT 400 controller with 35% more torque and speeds 20-25mph depending upon tire size.

Like anybody is ever happy with 19 mph. He'll be back.

You are probably right.

It seems that larger tires/wheels would give it a little more speed. Is that true and, if so, how much?

As an FYI, I did get a response from the dealer and they're sending me the 'key and instructions' I need to do the upgrade. Said it's easy and quick and should have been done before it was shipped.

It is very easy to do. Plug "key" into diag port, turn keyswitch on, wait for beeps, turn keyswitch off, remove "key" from diag port. Just one problem, the key does not automatically set it to its top speed of 19.5mph, but instead 17.5mph. That final 2 mph must be set with handheld (the next time its in for service).
