Default EZGO fuse question

I am a newbie and still trying to learn.... But have a fuse question.

On an EZGO 36v dcs cart, on battery #1 on the plus side there are 2 wires (BL+) to the controller assembly and the another wire that looks to run over to the charger plug in assembly.

Why on some golf cart DIY videos is there a fuse that comes off the plus side of battery #1 and other there is not a fuse?

Thanks for all the hell and sharing the knowledge.

The fuse in the smaller of the two cables connected to the battery pack's main positive terminal is in the battery charging circuit and not all cart owners have one installed.

Since just about all battery chargers have a fuse or circuit breaker in the DC output, the one at the battery pack's B+ terminal is more or less redundant. About the only thing that fuse protects that wouldn't be protected by a fuse in the charger is dead short between the B+ and B- charging cables or if somebody stuck a metallic object in the charge receptacle. Even then, the positive radsok is supposed to have a insulating sleeve on it.

Since my charger has internal fuses and I don't have any kids around, I do have that fuse installed.

Did not know that Alltrax made you put on fuse with their controller.

I am about to buy a DCX400 and i do not have a fuse... Do I need a fuse on the plus side with the Alltrax DCX400?

To prevent, or at least reduce the possibility of, starting a fire if a short occurred in the high current circuit.

A dead short would draw upwards of a 1000A or more and generate a lot of heat.

This is where I installed it when I was running a DCX400.

Note: Fuses and circuit breakers are fire protection devices rather than equipment protection devices.
