Micro switch keeps blowing
I have a 1992 ezgo and had to replace the solenoid (the heavy duty expensive one) and since I have had no luck with micro switches. acts like its shorted out to the solenoid. I have checked all the wiring and still the same. Can the diode make it seam like a dead short? I have ordered 2 new micro switches a solenoid and a new diode. Already messed up 4 switches. Any suggestions would be great!

Re: Micro switch keeps blowing
Check the diode. If it's installed backwards or if it is shorted it will blow the microswitch.

Re: Micro switch keeps blowing
Thanks for the info. My new parts came in today with a new diode. I will try it tomorrow. Thanks again.

Re: Micro switch keeps blowing
First try the cart without the diode..... if it works make a careful evaluation of the solenoid activation circuit... mainly identify the + and - side of the circuit that lands on the small terminals.
Determine which terminal is + and which is - so you can orientate the diode with the banded end towards the + wire. |

Re: Micro switch keeps blowing
Thanks man. I haven't heard of trying that before. Can it hurt anything by trying it without the diode?

Re: Micro switch keeps blowing
It is easy to get the diode on backwards. If you do that it will be a dead short that will blow the switch or something else in the solenoid circuit.

Re: Micro switch keeps blowing
Thanks. I will check it out tomorrow. More than likely that's what it is. I didn't know they could be that sensitive.

Re: Micro switch keeps blowing
Take the diode off. Install micro switches and try it. Solenoid may not be bad.

Re: Micro switch keeps blowing
I was curious to how this turned out, as I am having a similar problem. When I talk to our local Golf Car Mechanic you said you do not need a diode on the seven annoyed, but I keep popping microswitches and have no output in my controller........... still a little confused on how to check the input of the controller
