Hole in steering assembly?
I noticed a hole in the steering assembly. Looks like the shock mount has been rubbing on it. What should the clearance be? Will this cause an issue? Not sure if I should address it or not. So far I haven't noticed any problems.

Re: Hole in steering assembly?
I'm not an EZ-GO guy but, it looks to me as if that whole mount is bent all to heck. Maybe some EZ-GO guys will chime in on this.

Re: Hole in steering assembly?
You need to straighten the shock mounts back straight. Check the rack mounts to see if they are cracked. If not. And if the steering is ok, just seal the hole. Some one was riding that cart hard

Re: Hole in steering assembly?
I'm with you Rib. Something was hit hard to do that. Hope that's the only damage he has.

Re: Hole in steering assembly?
plastic damage only...needs to straiten shock mount then cover hole.
mount should be shaped like this-L- not like a jay....make sure there is no water in there causing corrosion...... |

Any thoughts on how to straighten it? Torch and hammer?

Re: Hole in steering assembly?
You can easily find a replacement axel if you can't straighten out the shock mounts. Anyone who installed a lift kit will have one.

Re: Hole in steering assembly?
Yes the Torch and hammer will work. A porta power will work to
Remove the plastic cover and the shocks, and see if you can get to it. Check the top shock mounts to. Most of the time when someone jumps a cart over something, And it slams the front end on the ground, it only bends the bottom mounts and puts a hole in the rack cover |

Re: Hole in steering assembly?
Wait...... both shock mounts are bent the same - is this a lowering technique ? or they both failed identically from jumping the cart?
Another thought is an easy fix. Cut the shock bolt off and put lots of duct tape over the hole in the dust cover. |
