Another Jakes Long Travel install question....
Ok....so I am installing (actually my nephew is going to start this weekend...I'm reading and doing the thinking....Ya Know....the "brains" behind the operation! ) my Jakes LT on my EZ-GO TXT. Now, this kit came with the "new" Jakes shocks that have a large ring which the directions state to snug against the coil spring, then with the second ring is used as a jam nut to keep the spring tension in place.
Ok....Now Jakes states that there are two holes to mount said shocks to. The first will provide a "softer" ride and the second a more firm ride. Since my cart is used 98% for hunting, I believe I want to go with the firm ride. Any thoughts on this? (Since I've never installed one of these and have no idea of the ride difference between "soft" and "firm.") Thanks |

If you are using for off road, I would think softer is better

Soft for off-road, firm for street...if you value your fillings!

Re: Another Jakes Long Travel install question....
Ok.....thanks!! I drive, at times, across hillsides where my cart is on an angle. So I was thinking I "needed" stiffer to prevent the possible "almost rollover". But perhaps the softer makes more sense as it will prevent me from "springing" into the down-hill roll over of a lifetime.
BTW....what's black and white and black and white and black and white? Answer: A Penguin rolling down a hill. (You may not find that funny.....but tell it to your 6 year old grandson!!) |

Re: Another Jakes Long Travel install question....
And......So the process begins!! My nephews came over today to start the process. Removed the front brush guard, basket, and this allowed the "roll cage" to be flipped back. Removed the front cowl and dust cover....(only to notice how much dust sits on said dust cover ) Had to call it quits for the day....but now ready to just un-bolt shocks, springs. Need to remove tires and hubs to let the hubs and front disc brakes "hang around" until I get the new front end back on. Not really in the mood to re-bleed those Jakes Brakes. Here's the pic:
