Spoke with Will at Alltrax this morning. The "Regen" Diode was not supposed to be added to their Club Car illustration but somehow it found it's way into the drawing. The new booklets that come with the controller will not have this on there. They are an E-Z-Go specific diode and anyone with the IQ or Excel drive system on a Precedent will not need one.

Thanks for following up on this David , I guess Alltrax gave the job of updating the diagrams to an intern

If You look back at that post from 2015 I linked, I questioned the reason Alltrax gave Scottyb for the need of a Regen diode across the solenoid big posts only applying to the EzGo, that scenario could also occur on an IQ and Excel Precedents.

So now 2 years later they add that Regen diode to the diagram, was it wrong then or is it wrong now?

As I mentioned back then, unlikely anyone on purpose would turn the key OFF, but if a solenoid drop out (or contact bounce) for any reason during regen could blow the Controller, I will install one.

You bring up a valid point. I wish Alltrax would be a bit better updating their documents timely and consistently since there seems to be some conflicting info out there as a result.
I was under the impression that the XCT controllers were updated in 2017 which was the reason the diode and resistor are no longer needed. However, I was not thinking about a key off under regen scenario, and if it matters or is different than any other scenario. I’m curious to see what they tell Taho about it.

After replacing my DCX with a XCT talked to a Alltrax tech about the diode. He said the controller did not need a resistor but the diode would help the controller last longer.
