Default battery charger

I'm installing a 12 volt battery on my cart for some lights it's a deep cycle marine battery.
I would like to get a small onboard charger for this one battery, can anyone tell me what to get for this battery?

Will this battery need to be charged the same as we do our golf cart batteries?

This battery charger, or one similar, will keep your marine battery charged properly.

I won't bother asking why you are getting another battery (with its extra weight, maintenance etc) instead of a 48V-12V voltage reducer because you must have thought about all that and decided that the battery was the way to go. For the record I think the reducer is better, however...

There are many, many 12V chargers available and most would do the job. I prefer the Save-a-Battery range from Granite (model 3015 is available from JB Tool Sales for $53.99). These do a great job of not only charging but also maintaining and de-sulfating your battery.

As to how to look after it; yes it is similar. All batteries last longer if they are stored fully charged so it's best to charge it after each use. Also if you have a float charger like the Save-a-Battery you should leave the charger connected for long term storage and the charger will maintain it in good condition.

I do have the 48 to 12 volt reducer 30 amp. I added the extra battery for all the christmas lights and some other stuff for the holiday season. I may leave the battery in place or I may take it out after the holiday. With my limited storage I'm thinking it may be better served on the cart. It's up in the air. But either way the battery needs to be properly charged.

Gotcha

I see the point as a temporary thing for extra power. I'm happy to stand behind my comments about the charger.

Cheers.
