Re: Chips
On a PDS cart it makes a difference. It’s not for a series cart.

Re: Chips
No you would need a passkey and a programmer to get you to 19mph.

Re: Chips
So I can spend $800 on an Alltrax, solenoid, and 2G cables to get 20mph or $8 to get the same thing?

Re: Chips
Lololol! Not so fast...if you have a Ezgo TXT PDS (no other variances of ezgo models) you can get to 19mph with the "personality" jumper. It won't add a single bit of torque, or any of the other benefits of going to a Alltrax (improved torque, higher than 19mph, protection for low voltage conditions that murder stock controllers, full adjustability of all power characteristics). Yep, just keep that stock controller, stock crappy solenoid, don't worry about a thing. We will be seeing ya soon enough. It's not like you spent that money and got nothing better than a 4mph increase. If it were as simple as that, no one would ever buy any upgrade parts, and the stock stuff would last 45 years with everyone flying down the road at their desired top speeds. Ezgo built it "good enough" to play golf, not built to suit the desires of everyone who wants to use it as a vehicle to fulfill use as a "neighborhood street vehicle", and "go faster". Keep in mind that fleet use is their first objective, "neighborhood cruiser" second

Quote:
At best a stock PDS controller (Curtis 1206MX) limits the motor to 4400RPM, which is about 19 MPH on stock height (18") tires, limits the cart to a maximum of a 36V battery pack, limits the throughput to the armature to 300A, and limits the cart's performance to what a risk management committee of lawyers and accountants can agree upon. Unfettered by RPM limiting, a stock PDS motor will spin about 5600 RPM (about 24 MPH on 18" tires) with a 36V battery pack, about 6500 RPM (about 28 MPH) with a 42V battery pack and about 7600 RPM (about 32 MPH) with a 42V battery pack. Of course, 7600 RPM to fast to routinely spin a stock PDS motor, but an XCT is user programmable and can limit the motor's RPM to a safer value while still getting the 33% torque increase of using a 48V battery pack, as well as the ability to tweak the acceleration from a standstill to your personal preference. In addition, three user modes are available, so you can have switch selectable individual cart performance modes for the kids, the wife and yourself. In a nutshell, you can make the cart do what you want it to within the constraints of the components installed rather than learning to accept what some anonymous bean-counters think is cost effective. Bottom line is that many people want more than what a stock PDS controller can provide and the Alltrax XCT family of controllers is the best answer to those desires. FWIW: Even if a stock PDS controller is sufficient for your desire, all the high current cable need to be upgraded to at least 4Ga and the solenoid to at least 200A. |
