That is correct, when the Solenoid closes the current flows trough all of the Resistor coils and gives you the lowest speed.

If it was not wired that way, the Wiper Arm pad and the first coil pad would wear out pretty quick since it would make and break contact under load (inrush current).

Also remember that there is no fly-back diode on that Solenoid, since there is always current flowing when the Solenoid contacts open, they must open fast.

Thank you Sergio. So when I figure out why the solenoid is not closing on its own, this would be normal? I've never had a resistor cart so this is all new to me.

Hey Sergio if this is the single resistor cart, wasn't that used/set up for dynamic braking or half speed reverse or am I thinking of something else?

That design had a single master solenoid and multiple coils that were by-passed by a high current VGlide.

The 1/2 speed was done by only using the first 3 batteries when the FNR lever was on reverse.

The 5 solenoid resistor cart was a much better design as far as resistor carts go since partial throttle driving is hard on the VGlide design due to pad overlap.

The best mod for that old design is to add a "high speed by-pass solenoid", that way when You are at WOT, there is no current flowing through the VGlide at all.

Thanks guys. Got it running! Replaced solenoid. Was going to replace both micro switches. I then noticed the third tab in V glide micro. Moved wire to bottom tab, reconnected everything, hit the go pedal and off like a scalded dog!

Now I don't know if solenoid was bad. Back on shelf with a question mark on it.

Thanks again guys!

Ya'll are awesome!
