Default Electrical Contact Cleaner

I have my batteries out and so looking at the V-glide. there seems to be a build up of dust, dirt and grime from the last 18 years of use . I assume there is no problem on both sides blowing it out , spraying contact cleaner and blowing it out again to try and clean it up.

So before I do it ...Is there a problem ?

Dumb questions are always better dumb mistakes

Not at all..... I use contact (lectra) cleaner as it will not harm the plastic, electronics or leave any residue. (and it will probably have evaporated before you can get the air hose back to it)

And Swan, watch those little resistors on the back side, I have "blown" the porcelain off of mine before on accident...

That is a good idea and since your VGlide is a Multi-Step potentiometer, You don't need to worry about residual and very flammable contact cleaner catching fire if you don't dry it all the way before using.

I would also add some dielectric grease on the copper pad surfaces.

Hey Swan, here is what I use (yes, I am a CRC guy) and it is non-flamable and residual free. This is all I ever use as it has been great over the years. You can pick it up at Advance Auto or most any parts place, but there are many generic types out there.

Ah flip it, I rotated it twice and it is still sideways, but you get the point.
