Re: 95 ezgo steering free play
I don't know about adjusting, but on most of the carts I've been around (I do nod do this for a living, so take this for what it's worth) when the steering is sloppy re-greasing all the grease fittings cleared up the slop. Your cart may not have been re-greased ever... My prior EZGO was horrible to drive, greased it up and it felt like new again.

95 should be the old style steering rack mounted to the frame. They are known for the rack wearing out. Check before to see if anything else is loose first but the rack is part number 70718G01

Re: 95 ezgo steering free play
I was going to change the steering bushing on my 95 Medalist, because I had a lot of play when I grabbed the tie rods and went back and forth with them. I ordered the bushing, took everything apart, but it turned out that all it needed was grease just like Bronsonj said. I cleaned up everything with brake clean and made sure all the grease fittings were clear and re-greased the whole front end as well as the steering.

Re: 95 ezgo steering free play
Have someone hold one front tire while you try to move/ wiggle opposite tire.
Watch all the tied rods ends for slop when doing so. See a sloppy joint, that is your problem. If steering is stiff but greasing joints makes it smoother, it was under greased. If steering was sloppy but greasing joints made it less sloppy, tight. Joints are worn out and grease is temporarily taking up extra crearence due to wear in part and is a temporary fix. Also check steering box/rack mount bushing for wear or looseness as that too will cause free play as it will move before transmitting steering input to steering linkage Not a golf cart mechanic, just retired auto mechanic . Hope that helps😊 |
