stalls going up hill
I have a 2003 ezgo txt I just purchased. Took it to a ezgo dealer and they installed new batteries and solenoid. fully charged it runs great has good speed but going semi steep hills it stalls to a stop. it has 23 inch tires and im sure motor and controller are stock. what could it be? Thanks

Re: stalls going up hill
First things first. What do you consider a "semi steep hill?" |

It is also designed for a max of a 14° incline with 18" tires, the max incline will be less with 23" tires. Using the attached grade conversion chart, how steep is a semi-steep hill? --------------- The good news is your cart can most likely be upgraded to climb steep hills. What type drive system does it have? If there is a F/R lever by the driver's knee, it is a series drive, if the F/R is a rocker switch next to keyswitch on dash, it is a sepex (PDS) drive. |

30 percent grade 20 feet long
seems to do ok at full charge. but after riding for 30 minutes it doesn't want climb it. I have a digital battery meter on it and says 32 volts and still shows 100 percent of power remaining |

What are the Make/Model of the batteries? 32V is more than 100% discharged, so either the digital readout or the bar-graph is wrong. Attached is a SoC chart for Trojan brand batteries, other brands have different charts. |

Re: stalls going up hill
The cart was engineered for a MAXIMUM of a 14° incline with STOCK 18" tires. You are trying to climb a steeper grade, with the carts motor and controller compromised by a TORQUE LOSS of 22%!
If you expect greater performance than it was designed for, you are going to have to spend the money to upgrade driveline components to deliver the performance being demanded of it. It's almost like pitting a stock Ford Pinto against a top fuel dragster at the drag strip, and expecting that stock Ford Pinto to win... The worst thing you can do to an underpowered golf cart is to put way oversized tires on it, and expect it to perform better than it was designed for. |
