It balances charge between all the batteries. Everything you've described so far is normal.

Good info to know thanks joesam

I plugged it in last night about 8:00. I checked on it this morning and it was still charging at 5 amps. Batteries were still 'gurgling'. And the led volts still show 53.4.

I'll check it again at noon today. I guess it's OK to let it go?

Yep - mid-60's volts before shutdown is fairly common (with fairly low amps at that stage - maybe 3 amps). I assume you haven't jumpered anything out...right....the OBC in your cart is controlling the charge?

Yes. Obc is. Maybe I'm paranoid but I just don't want to fry my batteries.

And I'm new to this so I apologize if I'm asking a lot of stupid questions.

Coming up on 16 hours at 5 amps. How long does it take to Equalize batteries if that is what it's doing?

Unless Your pack voltage is currently around 60v+, You have a problem.

With the charger still running, measure the voltage on the pack and on each individual battery to make sure they all have about the same voltage.

If it's working properly - it should time-out at 16 hours whether the equalization cycle actually got to the 60's or not. Either way, its probably prudent to unplug after (say) about 16.5 hours and go about normal charging & operation for the next month or two, before thinking about another attempt at equalization. Your batteries may just need more exercise to accept that much voltage.
EDIT - Sergio makes a good point - I wondered why the voltage never seemed to rise, but thought maybe new batteries were resisting.

OK. I unplugged the charger and then plugged it back in. The charger almost immediately went to 6 amps. Normally it goes 15 amps then settles down a bit. Maybe rose a little at first then ser in at 6. I checked the voltage on the pack while charging and it was 61.4. The two batteries closest to the front measured 16.1 and the two in the rear measured 14.6.

I have never had an issue with anything to do with the charger or charging. The only thing I did yesterday was add water to the batteries and I might have overfilled a cell or two buy a smudge.

And I can still hear the batteries gurgling.

Should I just drive this thing for a few days and get it down to about 60% charge and then try to charge it again?
