I use those plastic push-in rivets on the dash. It's actually a pretty sporty look imo. Holds firm yet easy to get out when necessary and if I mess one up I got about a hundred of them for next to nothing online.

I have thought about using RIVNUTS. Haven't done it yet but think it's worth a try. These are a knurled compressible rivet that has a machine screw thread in the center.
