Default txt in marathon?

Ok, i have a 1990 Marathon 36v with a broken rear axle. The axle sheared off right at the hub. It is resisting efforts to be removed. So I have been searching for a rear diff assembly. I came across a guy on ebay selling a 1995 Txt rear diff. everything except the motor. Hub to hub and shocks included. Has anyone tried to swap differentials like this? Will the 1990 motor fit? Will anything line up? I have asked the seller to incude a pic of the motor mount and to measure from spring perch to spring perch. And I am waiting on his response.

This is the listing:

Bonus is that he has free shipping.... another bonus is that he is 250 miles away if he forgot to add shipping to his listing

The diff in that posting has been hit pretty hard. That should be a round circle where it's hit but it's not round because it probably hit the ring gear in the diff (or whatever it's called in a golf cart). If that's the case then I bet the oil in there is full of shavings and you'll possibly need to rebuild it. If you're going to rebuild one then just rebuild the one you have.

I think it is a fairly easy swap if you have a welder for shock mounts. Measure the distance between the spring mounts to be sure it fits. BUT - I'm with bronsonj in that differential is not one I would want to pay for. Keep looking

tack weld a washer or a bolt or a hook to the end of the axle and pull it out.
I think you can remove the pan and push the axle out from the inside

Thank you for the insight. I did not realize it was damaged

I looked into trying to push it out from the inside. I cannot figure out if this is possible and I do not have a welder available

If you haven't already, try calling all your local cart shops and see if they have a good used one. Most cart shops have a graveyard and some have reasonable prices. I found one at a local shop for $150 about a year and a half ago for a rebuild. You might be able to drill a hole in the end of the axle with a carbide drill and tap it, then put a bolt in it and fabricate something like a slidehammer.
Good Luck!
