Default Motor upgrade

hey guys.
I have a 1995 EZGO 36 V cart .
Sent my motor in for an upgrade,up to 22 mph.
original motor went 12 mph.
now when I got my upgraded motor back and installed it it only went 9 miles an hour. they slapped a sticker on there that said 48 V I called them they said that was probably a mistake, your motor is correct. So my question is,wouldn’t a 48 volt motor only go about 9-10 mph on 36 volt?

It does sound like you may have a 48v motor. A 48v motor would run slow on 36v.

36v is an obsolete operating voltage.
Nobody makes a 36v cart any more and all of the old 36ers need to be upgraded to 48.

It's like the old 24v system which was replaced by 36v about 40 yrs ago

Thanks scotty
Ya it is an older cart
Thing is, business i sent motor to is telling me that its my cart thats the problem and that if i sent a 36 volt motor in then thats what they sent back to me.
My thought is like yours, they did it wrong.

Is it possible you sent them a 48v motor? What does the ID tag say? I know it's late now but did you mark the motor before you sent it? There could have been a mix up

I don’t think I sent them a 48 V motor it looks to be the original motor off of this 36 V cart and no I didn’t think to mark it but I don’t think it would matter anyway they re-case it
