Can I use a 72v solenoid on a 48v cart?
This is my first cart, so I'm sorry if this is dumb question.
I am upgrading my 2011 TXT with the Navitas 5kW AC kit. I know they recommend upgrading the solenoid, but I plan to upgrade to a 72v battery this winter and I'd hate to spend money on a solenoid that would be useless once I upgrade my battery setup. |

Re: Can I use a 72v solenoid on a 48v cart?
Common sense answer without plugging anything Generally contactors can handle a 20% reduction in coil voltage without a problem. 20% of 72v is 14.4v so that would be 57.6v minimum for the 72v solenoid.
So it's not a good idea. Nobody is going to recommend it. |
