From 6 Guage to 4 Guage wires
I have Seven 6 volt batteries. Is it required to replace anything but the wires coming from and to the Pos and Neg posts of the battery.
i.e. should I replace cables to and from the electric motor, the controler, the sylenoid etc. etc. |

Cables are like a garden hose. They will only flow electricity as fast as the smallest one will allow. Replace all of the 6g cables with 4g to realize ANY benefits.

Yes all cables need to be replaced, including the motor controller etc. Just remove one cable at a time and you should have no problems, but disconnect from the batteries first, stay safe.

Remember to use 2 wrenches on the double nutted motor connections to prevent the studs from spinning and doing damage inside the motor!

Most Western carts have 4ga cables to the motor already so you may not need to change them. Check before you order/change them.

Re: From 6 Guage to 4 Guage wires
yeah, thank Western for that gem of a setup.... they figured out that E-Z-GO left them this wonderful spot to add an extra battery under the driver's seat, so they took advantage of it to make their carts a smidge bit faster than a stock E-Z-GO.......

Re: From 6 Guage to 4 Guage wires
You must have priced a 42v charger!?
Actually they are easier to work on than their 8/6v cousins, space wise... The 48v, those you can actually buy gauges and chargers for Yeh, as far as cables go Western put a mix of some 2g and some 4g cables in their carts with big motors and controllers & stock F&Rs. I have seen some of these F&Rs get so hot you could smell them cooking from the driver's seat... |
