older batteries * where should you place the weaker batteries starting with pos & ending with neg from charger

Electrically, it doesn't matter. They are connected in series, so total current passes through each of them equally and the entire battery pack is only as good as the worst battery.

Physically, place them where they are the easiest to get at to replace and replace them soon because having weak batteries in a pack will ruin the good ones.
