What kind of mods were you doing?

Works still in progress.

1. Adding a covered toggle switch to by-pass relay. The kind that the cover has to be flipped up and visually obvious when in one position.
2. Adding forward biased diodes to battery sense wire to control board to adjust cut-off voltage. The PW-II I have shuts off at 44.4V. One diode gives me 45.0V and two yields 45.6V.
3. Adding an "Equalize" mode. Basically, more diodes in the sense circuit to increase cut-off voltage into the 48-50V range, with a covered toggle switch to by-pass for normal operation.
4. Clean Radsoks in a vibratory type tumbler with crushed walnut media and NuFinish. Same method I use to clean fired brass for reloading.

I'll probably go with 45.0V (one diode) for normal charge and 48.0 (six diodes) for Equalize.

I'd settle for one that just worked when you turned it on.

Talked to John at Quick Charge this morning. They don't stock the charger that I need but they are going to build one this morning and overnight it to me this afternoon. They have dimensional drawings on their site for all of their chargers so I used that to build a bracket yesterday hoping that the charger would be here in time. Should just be a matter of bolting the charger to the bracket and hooking up the wires tomorrow. Pretty cool.

My second ProTech is junk, just like the the first one. I'm not sure what to do with it beside target practice.

I'm amazed that these chargers are so bad. Doesn't seem that a single one of them works for very long.

Let us know how the Quick Charge works out. Guess I will end up buying one when Protech gets tired of sending me new ones.

Wow. This really puts a damper on my enthusiasm for a 48v conversion. I guess this means I should go to 72v and buy another TC III.
