1994 EzGo Headlight wiring
I bought a 1994 ExGo, looks to have a TXT body on it, and the wiring is a nightmare. The previous owner had all sorts of accessories on it and the wires look like a birds nest in spots. I have to replace the headlight push/pull and the current one has about 5 wires going in and out of it. Anyone have any photos of key ignition and headlight push/pull that just runs headlights?
Thanks for any help you can give! |

I would start over with a custom setup of your own.

Re: 1994 EzGo Headlight wiring
Whenever i see a switch like this it's almost always their way to get power to tail lights and fog lights on the front (not a light kit but just Wal-Mart fog lights and some cheap marker lights for tail lights). one wire is the power, the other two positive output for headlights/tail lights.
Whenever i see someone's Creat-A-Harness (patent pending) and they want working lights i just undo the macreme and wire it correctly. |

Re: 1994 EzGo Headlight wiring
Thanks for the advice! I was thinking about ripping it all out and starting over, but I am a golf cart and wiring beginner. Any good links to videos/pictures/documents wiring it from scratch?

Re: 1994 EzGo Headlight wiring
One thing to avoid is grounding to the frame. I'm not sure why that is, since the battery negative is bolted to the frame, but light kits grounded to frame almost always burn something up like a fuse or solenoid.

Re: 1994 EzGo Headlight wiring
So running the lights directly off the the battery, with an inline fuse and switch, would probably be the best bet?

Re: 1994 EzGo Headlight wiring
You need a negative and positive where the switch (normally a two pole) just breaks the connection on the positive. Negative usually goes from the negative battery terminal to the lights, the positive from battery positive to switch, switch to lights.
Most cheap fog lights are halogen and are not polarity sensitive but normally you run positive from switch to white light wires, and negative is black on the lights, goes to battery negative. |

Thank you very much for the help! I think going that route is probably my best bet and I will do that soon.

Re: 1994 EzGo Headlight wiring
That only applies to electric carts. Gas carts are supposed to be grounded to the frame.
