Automotive Shocks???
Hi guys, I’m adding the Steel Eng 4” lift to my 84 Marathon and have a question on shocks.
So with the kit, you use these 4” shock extenders and stock shocks. The problem is I can’t get one loose without cutting it so I was thinking, could you find regular automotive shocks instead of buying the stock shocks and not use the extenders? Has anyone done this? Thanks |

Re: Automotive Shocks???
IMHO, car shocks should be by far too strong as they are working with a lot heavier structures...

Re: Automotive Shocks???
I put auto shocks (Pinto I believe) on my TXT as mentioned in one of the threads. The advantage is they are gas shocks so they tend to give a little lift and good dampening qualities but for me they were a bit too stiff. I don't really carry any passengers and am getting old enough that I enjoy the cushy ride. I'm hoping they will soften in time.

Re: Automotive Shocks???
I’m kind of hoping I can still find some straight up oil filled shocks

Re: Automotive Shocks???
It will be tough to find old style oil shocks. All the automotive suppliers have gone to gas filled shocks. If you want standard shocks you will need to go back with the stock EZGO shocks and use the extenders.
