'84 G1 intermittent no start in reverse

I've been working on my '84 G1, added a stereo, headlights, and a taillight this week. Sometimes when I go to start it in reverse the buzzer kicks on, but no starter. I can turn the key to forward and it starts right up, let it idle a few seconds then turn the key to reverse and it starts fine.

Does this sound like an issue that may be resolved with a little cleaning of cables?

When it will not start in reverse check to see if you are getting power at the blue wire on the reverse solenoid. The reverse buzzer is on a seperate circuit. Power is supplied to the reverse solenoid through the key switch so if you are not getting power on the blue wire you need to make sure the key switch is closing the contact. Also make sure the blue wire connection on the reverse solenoid is clean and tight as well as the black wire (ground).

This problem finally got bad enough that I had to look into it. Sure enough no power at the blue wire when the key was in the reverse position. So, I took the dash off and pulled the ignition switch out and sprayed it full of electrical contact cleaner. Let it sit for a bit and worked the key back and forth while spraying a little more contact cleaner in it. Wiped everything up and put it all back together and she's starting every time in reverse now!
