My 88 Marathon Gasser rebuild
New guy here, have been a long time lurker. Great info and I figured I would share my project.
Before Painting Matte Black. The paint is still drying in picture. I also removed and filled the area on fenders where the metal pieces are that hold on the trim. Will be adding flares. Started Powder Coating some parts and you can see the DIY lift on the back. I will keep adding to this thread with descriptions and photos. |

Got a little work done over the long weekend.
Mocked up the front after cutting and flipping the spindles on the front. Will remove and add gussets and strip and refinish the front axel Fabbed up some angle iron for the rockers and to hold down the rubber mat. |

Looks good! How much lift did you get out of flipping the spindles?

Flipping the spindles gave me just shy of 5" lift. The passenger side spindle/steering arm needed to be cut and repositioned the arm. I moved it up aprox 2 1/2 inches so the steering would not bind up. With that adjustment in articulates like stock.

Built a rear step/receiver bumper
I purchased the Powder Coating gun from Eastwood and a blasting cabinet from Harbor Freight. Also picked up a old single oven that I modified to coat bigger parts. I have a total of 300.00 in my Powder Coating set up. It sure is nice to be able to PC things on your own. |

Re: My 88 Marathon Gasser rebuild
What temp on the oven ? Looked in to it some time ago but at that time they were a bit pricey. I like the look of the bumper hitch along with the step good idea only change I'd make is to mount the receiver flush with the step as I have a clumsy WIFE not being mean but honest and she would find away to crack her leg. Have to be careful around here or HER
