I was the starter, put sleeve bushings in the mount and made an end bushing to take up the end to end slop. I still have a vibration but at least got rid of that noise.

I can't make it idle cuz the rest is still stock and if I let off the pedal it kills the ignition. Speaking of that I had a problem start today with the ignition, and first it would not fire (take off), put it reverse cranked at little and it fired then put i back it drive and would run then die run then die looking at the tach it appears the ignition is the problem.

Thanks

This is driving me crazy, it's got spark, seems like not very hot spark but has spark. Makes me want to do the HEI.

Sweet. With a marginal-strength ignition, the added compression may have been too much pressure to jump the gap.

Most bikes if you have to lower the gap down to make them run the cdi is shot or the power leads are corroded. Also fouled plugs will cause this.

I am doing the hei mod on my 2pg.

I did the mod long ago on a 750 Honda and ran a 50 gap.
Hot spark and started easy and ran great. It had caviler dual coils and dual modules.
With that setup you do not have a cap so the arc does not have 2 gaps and a longer gap on the plugs is easy.
You can go larger but found stumbling at higher rpms. Probably a power draw issue.

Warning!!! The bigger the gap the hotter your module will run and the larger the power draw.
I used a pc heat sink with pc thermal compound on the modules.

I have a few HEI distributors laying around so I will pull the module and coil, I will try to get to it this week.

Have not done the HEI yet because I am trying to track a vibration. I checked the run out and at the end of the drive clutch I show about .0010.

Something at one time hit that clutch pretty hard to cause the damage, also when I tighten the bolt it acts like the bolt is bent and ends up a little off center, the bolt is not bent.

I wish I could start the motor with the clutch removed so I could nail it down.

One thousandths shouldn't be a problem.
Can you measure on the sheaves?
