I have the same problem with a ,1996 ezgo, did the hei conversion and it will hardly pull itself out of the shop; new plugs, wires and a high performance coil, new carb& fuel pump, even a new timing belt, no power at all ???

Try switching the red, and blue wires coming from the pulsar where they connect at the HEI module.

Did you install this because of bad spark or inconsistency

I was curios how or if this fix can work on a later model 1991, with the following diagram, showing YEL/RED to ignitor off D+ on the regulator.

I may have answered my question above looking closer, my yel/red, is technically still connected to D on the SOL, but it is jumped off D+ on the Volt reg.

Assuming I can keep YEL/RED on D+ on volt reg and connect the other end to to B on the HEI?

I should have summarized the problem,

New to me cart.

ezgo, 1991 2 cycle.

isnt running, has been stored for soem time. no spark situation. looking at the elec specs, I noticed YEL/RED of ignitor was connected to D- on the volt reg. Should be D+.

I switched it and now get a low spark using an inline tester. I wanted to replace the ignitor since I was unable to test it due to a lack of a VOM at the time. Being the ignitor is very expensive, and the ignition coil, equally expensive (and not sure its faulty) I thought this might suit my needs to correct the problem at a fraction of the cost. I am not a mechanic however.
