I am picking up my 1st cart tomorrow and what to know all I can about it.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, Post a picture of your cart, and the battery tray area, Also get the model number information off the tag. The pictures will help determine if your cart uses resistors or has a controller. The 80's saw a lot of changes for the x444 and you really got to pin down the year of manufacture before you can get the right manual.

X444 is the model number.
4 wheel resistor system.
Serial number will provide mfr date.

Yep, I did mean serial number not model number. But I guess I disagree on the X444 as designating it a resistor cart. I consider the solid state controller in that same era as x444's also. Then breaking it into Marathons, Freedoms, Spirits. Example X444F for freedom, X444J for spirit etc. Plus, some carts like my 1988 was converted over to a controller by the previous owner. That's why it would help to see the battery area.

X cars predate Marathons that began the controller era in late 88 or 89.

Just when I thought I understood how E-Z-Go designated body styles I get more information. I am new to golf carts.... In all the manuals I have seen through 1993 including controller era carts E-Z-go refers to all golf cars as X440/X444 (3 wheel (X440) 4 wheel (X444) Then depending on cowl and lights it becomes a marathon or freedom or whatever. I thought of them like General Motors X body cars.... The Citation, Phoenix, Omega.. same platform different options. As long as the frame remained the same I thought a X444 was a X444.
