Default Solenoid failure

I have a non-PDS '2001' that has been raised with the stock controller. The solenoid contacts failed 'open'. It still clicks but with no continuity at all. It seems like an odd failure and occurred after climbing a long hill.

I would like to upgrade the controller, at some point, so should I look to replace the solenoid with a higher amperage one?

Thanks,
Steve

I would definately replace it with a heavy duty solenoid, that way you are good to go on the upgrades later.

Was going to upgrade the wiring and eventually go to a AXE 4845 (400A controller), while sticking with the stock motor.

As for the solenoid, should I be looking for one with 400A continuous current capability? I can't seem to find much. There are some that talk about silver contacts but are listed for resistor carts only and do not list a current rating.

It appears that the stock unit is rated at 70A or 100A (can't tell for sure) and the stock controller is 275A. If that is the case, will a solenoid that is rated 200A cont. be a good choice?

Thanks for the replies,
Steve
