I have a 97 series cart that I have only replaced the motor that dave suggested. I have a stock controller, 6 g cables, and I get between 17 to 20 mph all ready. I plan on doing other upgrades as I go, but the motor is the meat and Potatoes of this evolution.

Thanks so much guys I appreciate it very much. Now I can tell what direction to go in and how much that direction will cost me. LOL I was under the impression that buying the 700amp controller would give me such torque that the cart would fly from a stand still and get up small hills with the stock wheels.

A similar example is like going from a 10 amp circuit breaker
to a 30 amp circuit breaker for a 100 watt light bulb
The light bulb (like the motor) will still be a 100 watt light bulb

Yeah that was what I was afraid of.
The tech told me it would fly with the 700 amp controller and the stock motor.
Just wanted it to get up some small hills when we go camping, faster than the 5mph it does now uphill.
I am seeing the tech tomorrow and will update what I find out.
He had said it could be because I have the "M4". Can't find anything on that terminology.
Bought a 6" lift kit and new wheels but can't have fun till I can get this thing to move..LOL Little kids are passing me on their bicycles and pointing and laughing!! ;)

It's MCOR not M4. Can that be upgraded?

I am not sure where your tech is from, but based on him selling you a 700 AMP controller to make you go fast, I would say Run as fast as you can in a different direction.

Re-read post # 8 from Sergio and upgrade your tires for a small increase in speed.

Re-read post # 10 from TahoeDawg, and follow his plan for a longer term higher speed outcome.

We still don't know your VIN # can you post that?

Higher amps will not get a notable speed increase. Maybe 1mph or so. Amperage equals torque. The motor itself much be changed on a series car to get any notable speed increase. A motor alone will give you a boost in speed, but when combined with a high amp controller, you'll also gain torque as well.

Brought my DS to the tech and he thought it was the MCOR. Looked like someone had placed a clear sleeve over one of the pins on the bar drive before I bought it, replaced that but he thought that the epoxy seam connecting the differential to the motor had been opened, its supposed to be red, this one is grey. I'll have to check the ratio on the gearing now. Also on the motor written in marker says "good" and the date. Hmmm.. So we are back to where you all said......new motor for starters. I looked up the suggested Admiral MOT-A1 motor, seems like a nice motor, a lot of good feedback about it. Just have to find a tin can and a busy intersection............HaHa.

Epoxy seam? There shouldn't be any epoxy at all between the differential and the motor.
