Question What modifications add the most value?

I inherited a 2005 Club Car DS 48v (AQ0550) that I would like to sell. The car was purchased by my father in 2006 and only used to ferry my grandmother around the side of the house from the walk-in basement to the main floor.

It worked when I took possession of it a couple years ago but has been sitting in my garage ever since.

Considering its good condition and low amp hours, I figure $1,000 for the cart is a fair start. It will need new batteries, so that's $600 that will push the asking price to $1,500 or so.

Beyond that, are there any mods I can make that provide a good return? I'm pretty handy so I plan on doing any upgrades myself.

The seats have yellowed and the green body paint has dulled over the years, so I think seat covers and painting the body a new color is in order. The 8-inch factory wheels don't add any appeal, but I fear I won't recoup the $450 for a new set of 12" wheels/tires.

Anything else you all could suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Default What modifications add the most value?

In my opinion-

Lift kit with nice wheels
A windshield
Nice seats
A good looking body
New batteries

Those greatly increase the selling price of a cart. At least in southeast Georgia...

Luke

PS- you can put a high speed magnet in the Club Car IQ motor to make it go around 20 MPH very easily.

Personally if I were just going to sell it, I would just put batteries in it and sell it that way the next person could do with it the way "He or She" wants to do....

Hard thing about putting money out for motors, controllers, etc. it is usually hard to recoup your money unless you already had them.

The cleaning/detailing or anything you can do yourself for little or next to nothing is always a good investment on time and effort.

My BIGGEST thing with buying a used cart is that I can see it run before I buy or I am not paying much since I am carrying all the risks...

Good luck with whatever you do....

I would put batteries in it. Clean it up really good and ask $2000 for it. You can dump a lot of money into something somebody else may not want/need.

My 2 cents.

I agree that it’s very hard to get money back out of internal upgrades.
