AQ series cart speed upgrades? 48v DS
I'm working on an '02 DS 48v AQ cart. Batteries are old (2014 Trojans) but seem to be working fairly well. Cart does 14mph. I don't think SWMBO will allow me to keep this AND the Precedent (though she's taken the Precedent over, really), so I don't want to put alot into it if I'm going to sell it down the line. Anything I can do to speed it up?

Re: AQ series cart speed upgrades? 48v DS
Our cart is similar, except for gearing. The PC Bandit came with a 4-pole "speed" magnet vs the OEM 8-pole magnet. It would go about 3 mph faster. It didn't seem like the torque was any different. I think the "speed" magnet fools the controller so it doesn't limit the speed.

Sounds like the magnet is what will help out. Does the motor come apart to install that?

I think it just sits under the sensor on the end of the motor.
Removing the senor provides access. What motor do you have, GE or AMD? They are quite different sensors/magnets. The GE sensor snaps on, the AMD has 2 screws. |

I'm not sure yet, so I haven't ordered the magnet. I took a look under there yesterday but it was covered in old dirt/dust, so I couldn't tell quickly.
