I'm also in Mi, with similar temps... I've used it in the winter often. My car usually does 35 mph, and gets 30+ miles a charge in the summer. In the winter that drops to 25 mph getting about 10 mile range.
I like the idea of insulating the battery compartment, but the gasses have to vent. I'd be afraid the draw on those heaters would leave me stranded somewhere unless they were running off their own supply, which might be a good option with an aux battery dedicated to that purpose.

Using any kind of heater with an "open" heating element, if you have FLA's would be an issue.

OTOH, with Lithium, gasses are not a big deal so I think that would be fine in carts with lithium.

MHO...and I have nothing that says is a danger....or not a danger.

get another battery if you want, depends on how long you're out there for

35Watts each pair / 12V = 2.9AMPS per pair X 3 total pairs to get 6 pads = 8.7 amps per hour being drained out. About 13 hours from full to 50% SoC not including power needed to drive back and forth...

35watts was the high setting on the PDF, which you'd need for sure.... for @Dave, AMPS are watts divided by volts so as long as it tells you watts you can get amps, and vice versa

(or use a heater, the amount of gasses coming off the batteries will NEVER be in a high enough concentration to ignite while outdoors, IMHO)

Interesting to note that I left my cart on my pickup last night. It got down to about 30 degrees and when I checked my pack temp it was 32 degrees. After about a 1 mile drive to my hunting spot, they warmed up to 34.

FYI

Anyone thought of carrying a small generator ~ a Honda 2000 or so. Just for the peace of mind when hunting in sub zero weather.

I hunt a place that I know how far I can take the cart.....and frankly, it would be tough for me to run the cart to the point of "can I make it back?"

Now, that being said you hunt in temps far lower than here in SW Pa.. If you get your pack low enough to be concerned, that little Honda certainly would not hurt.

You’re overthinking it. Your car starts without hand warmers. A trick when you live in cold country is to turn your lights on for 5-10 seconds to start a current flow and slight warming. Turn them off then turn the key for the big draw. Should work the same way on a cart.
