Default Precedent OBC Bypass

I have a 2013 precedent the OBC went bad on. I installed a Curtis bypass kit and the cart is working again. my question is will the original charger still work as it should, or do I need to do something there as well?

The Powerdrive 3 only works with the OBC, you will need a new smart charger.

The Curtis by-pass kit was not needed as the OBC by-pass process is simple.

There are many options for chargers at different price points, perhaps other members will post their experiences.

The Lester Summit II is a good charger but not the cheapest.

If it was me I would go with a good quality charger. You have all ready did the bypass so one less thing to go bad on the cart.

Our cart is 17 years old so I figured the electrical system was due for an update.
I replaced the OBC/Powerdrive and Curtis controller with a Modz Max48 charger and an Alltrax controller.
The wiring is a lot cleaner, the cart runs great and the charger has been working fine for 6 months.

In the past I'm have done the bypass with out the kit. However since I am know a legit shop I do try to install manufacture parts when I can to avoid the
''you rigged my cart and my garage caught on fire'' situation. Any how this was a lesson on chargers, normally when I bypass the OB it so a new charger can be used.

As far as the summit II. I agree its a great charger, keep them in stock with an assortment of DC cords so I have a charger for almost anything without stocking a charger for everything.....

Buy the Lester charger.. I took the route of one of the cheaper chargers and it was nothing but trouble. In the end I bought a Lester charger and it work’s flawlessly.
