Default No life in batteries - is there any hope?

Purchased a new home, and it came with a 2001 Club Car DS series cart that I bet has not been run in at least a year. The beep comes on when you put in reverse, but otherwise no signs of life.

I disconnected the batteries, cleaned them all, replaced the battery to battery cables and cleaned the connection points on the cart wires and began charging with a 4.5amp 6/12v on 6V setting. I’ve also filled with distilled water (two were REALLY) dry.

Battery 1 - 7.5v
Battery 2 - 5v
Battery 3-4 - 3.5v
Battery 5 - 0v
Battery 6 - 1v

Of note, battery 5 and 6 were the ones bone dry. The maintainer type charger just gives me errors when I attempted to charge 5 and 6... any other ideas before just forking over $2k for new batteries? Maybe trying off a jump pack type thing?

No hope.....trade 'em in for new ones. $2k is way too high for a new set.

To try charging 5 & 6 you could run jumper cables between battery 1 and (one at a time) each of the others, while running your charger on those batteries. That might give the charger enough feedback voltage to function. In the bigger picture, those batteries are NOT going to come back. You might get enough charge into them to see if it will move a little, but not enough to drive around. If you're wanting to test the rest of the drive system to see if the cart is still functional at all, before buying batteries: 3 12 volt car batteries could be parallel jumpered to create a 36 volt pack. With the rear wheels on stands off the ground you could see if it will spin the tires forward and reverse.

Any insight on where/how to trade them in? All I’m seeing is about $200 a pop, plus tax, etc gets me like $1750?

In reality, this is just for neighborhood driving to the park and stuff, not even to play a full round or anything...

Maybe try the fresh acid method for the helluvit.

See who your local Crown, Trojan or US Batteries distributor is and give them a ring. You should be at around $130 apiece including your trade in. Yes, you may find higher or lower prices. You may also find cheaper batteries that are "just as good", but the longevity will likely not be there. You could get 5 years out of good batteries if you take care of them, others have gotten even longer.

Every market area will be different, but that sounds kind of high - almost twice what we charge for the Crown batteries we sell. Out of curiosity are yours 6 volt (3 cells per battery) or 8 volt (4 cells each)?

8v x 6 = 48v

I’m guessing I need to replace them all, not just the two with zero charge?

The old batteries in the pack will "kill off" new batteries...the new batteries
can't make up the deficit of the old ones.

BobbyB or ScottyB CGtech can give a better expalnation.

Check you math! Even at $200 a pop, that's $1200 + tax. Hopefully, you can do better than that!
