Unsuccessful Solenoid Upgrade
I upgraded my stock solenoid with a high amp solenoid and took the cart for a spin and had no issues. (Actually raced a neighbor and WON!) We stopped, talked for a minute and then I pressed down on the accelerator and the cart wouldn't move. While pressing down on the solenoid I heard an "electric slippage" type a noise coming from the solenoid area. Any ideas of what could be going on?

Re: Unsuccessful Solenoid Upgrade
I also meant to mention that I had to modify the solenoid resistors ring ends because they were too small to fit on the bigger posts on the high amp solenoid. I don't know if that might've affected it somehow...

Re: Unsuccessful Solenoid Upgrade
Adjusting the resistor ring connectors is not a problem, putting them under the cable lug is a problem, make sure the cable lug is still first in the big stud.
What exactly is an "electric slippage" sound? |

Re: Unsuccessful Solenoid Upgrade
I hear like a voltage noise, almost like a clicking noise from the solenoid area. It's definitely not a normal noise. It doesn't sound good. lol

I'm not home to check but I actually might have it under the cable lug...

Re: Unsuccessful Solenoid Upgrade
The slippage noise may be the solenoid rapidly engaging and disengaging in a very rapid fire sequence. Usually due to low voltage or a poor connection.

Re: Unsuccessful Solenoid Upgrade
My voltage is good, around 52 volts. The more I'm thinking about it, I bet it's the connection. At the time I was getting a little frustrated from trying to bolt the solenoid to the cart since the size difference was pretty significant. I'm going to mess with it tonight and will provide an update.

Re: Unsuccessful Solenoid Upgrade
If You have the pre-charge resistor or anything else under the main cable lugs on the Solenoid big posts, that is an example of "poor connection".

Re: Unsuccessful Solenoid Upgrade
regardless of how this turns out , "electric slippage" should now be recognized as a useful diagnostic term....

Re: Unsuccessful Solenoid Upgrade
Yeah, I remember I couldn't get the resistor to stay on the cable lug so I used the weight of the 2 gauge cable to hold it down. It makes sense now that you guys bring up the poor connection problem. I appreciate the help!
